Just Be
I have made it a daily routine to ask myself everyday, “Am I living my own life? Or am I living unconsciously and fulfilling my parents, children, employers, cultural and religious norms, or the world’s expectations of what a good life should look like?”
The spirit and soul that is within me knows. These are always 100% honest — it is my choice to listen.
I have discovered my soul cries out and pleads, “Just be!”
Why is it so hard to “ just be”?
Maybe because we exist in a sea of emotions, distractions, failures, successes…
After decades of trying to be successful, useful, productive, good in the eyes of others, religious beliefs, even strangers (how ridiculous is that), I have come to realize that knowing, accepting and honoring my true self drives out the lies I have believed of who I ought to be.
When we know and love ourselves, we don’t need to look to others or institutions to define who we are.
When we do not have self respect, self control, self love, we are left with fears and anxiety, making it difficult to love.
This drives us out of love, and into a a sad and sick soul. Trust me, the Bible is right when it says, “perfect love drives out fear”!
Love the you that you are created to be. Watch and see your soul soar. We grow in love as we love ourselves. We can’t give what we don’t have.
“Love others as you love yourself.”
When we live in love, we come into our own.
If you want to identify me, ask me not what my job is, where I live, or what I like to do. Ask me who, what, I love and am living for.
