Hi, I’m Gloria. It’s nice to meet you!
Gloria Kim Peeling, known to her readers as Gigi,
was born and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, the daughter of hardworking immigrants from South Korea. Her journey began at an early age, when she fell in love with the English language through the playful and imaginative works of Dr. Seuss. Classics like The Cat in the Hat and One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish sparked a passion that would lead her to a lifelong love of poetry and creative expression.
Gigi pursued her academic studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, and later continued postgraduate work in Counseling at Liberty University. While raising two incredible children, she worked in education, coached varsity and club volleyball, and led cross country teams. Throughout these experiences, the desire to create through writing remained a constant in her life.
Today, Gigi spends her time traveling the world, seeking inspiration wherever she goes. From bustling city streets to quiet corners of nature, every place offers a new perspective, a new story, and new words to weave into her ever-evolving poetry. Her writing reflects not only her personal journey but also her cultural heritage, giving voice to universal themes of love, resilience, and transformation
The Book of Gigi,
her debut poetry collection, captures the essence of her first 60 years on this earth – a heartfelt celebration of life’s highs and lows, growth, and the beauty found in the everyday. But this is only the beginning. Gigi’s poetic journey is far from over, and she continues to evolve and refine her craft, with more books and projects on the horizon.
